Posted by Danny Paul Comments (0)

Summer is never too far away, which means planning trips, going on camping, and maybe enjoying the beauty, fine sand and crystal clear waters of French beaches. In France, summer is the perfect time for such activities, especially as almost all offices, businesses, and schools shut down during this long period.

Although France is not always on top of the list of summer holiday destinations, people who’ve been to this beautiful country were quick to realize that its geographical location makes it the perfect summer getaway, with many miles of beaches lining its sandy shores. This is because France is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, 2 of the planet’s vast bodies of water.

There are many beach destinations in France where summer holidaymakers can have a terrific time:

Villefranche-sur-Mer: This beach resort is well known for its coarse sand and tranquil ambiance. It’s a low key destination great for those who prefer a quieter time. The location is additionally highly rated by sunbathers. Visitors here can find a market, several cafes, and some shops, while the beach is just a few minutes away from Nice.

Cap Ferret: This place is basically a cape – over to the east we find the Arcachon Bay, while the Atlantic Ocean sits to the west. This makes it an ideal location, as it has a beach on each side. The beaches themselves are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and fishing. It is also famous for its lighthouse, and holidaymakers have no problem with accommodation as there are several comfortable hotels, if you don’t fancy camping. Cap Ferret is very near the port city of Bordeaux.

Argeles-sur-Mer: This is one of the most frequented resorts in France during the summer break. The beach runs along the whole length of the popular French Red Coast (“Cote Vermeille”). The many shops and cafes found here are just one aspect of the many conveniences at the disposal of the holidaymaker. It is not too far from Perpignan, the capital of the department known as the , and is a short drive to Spain.

Saint-Jean de Luz: This is another one of the favorite beach destinations in France, especially because of its fine sandy beaches. The town sits right in the middle of the Northern Basque Country. A visitor to this place frequently has the feeling of still being in a city, because of the numerous cafes, shops, and markets that are found here. The feeling, of course, is more of an appreciation for such conveniences than anything else.

La Grande Motte:Among French holidaymakers, this location is possibly the most popular. One will find that time passes quickly here because of the many activities available. As well as the customary beach activities, like sunbathing, swimming, and water related activities, those who spend their holiday here can also play golf or tennis, go for a hike, or catch sight of white horses and flamingos. Children particularly can have a wonderful time at the resort’s water park.

Of course there are many other beach destinations that are perfect for camping holidays in France. Resorts on the coasts of Brittany and Normandy, for example, are great places as well for that summer getaway – it’s not quite as warm, that’s all.
